A useful fit for

A documented fit case is four simultaneous slices in four separate openings, with different settings available for the left and right slot pairs; the manual also supplies dedicated Defrost and one-side Bagel controls.

The main tradeoff

The four openings are not four independently controlled slots, and TSF03 is not a long-slot layout. Opening length, depth and maximum slice length are not published; the power and dimension descriptions conflict within the exact-page materials; and the maker page showed an out-of-stock snapshot on the checked date. This research-based assessment makes no hands-on performance or availability claim.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the TSF03BLUS provide separate settings for all four slots?

It documents two separately controlled pairs, not four individually set openings: the exact TSF03 manual says each of its two independent panels controls two slots. The four-opening layout is materially different from the two-long-slot TSF02, but the pair arrangement still matters if all four breads need different shade settings.

Can I select Defrost and Bagel together on the TSF03BLUS?

Yes. The TSF03 manual says Defrost or Reheat can be selected with Bagel. For Bagel, it directs you to put the side intended to toast facing outward, then choose the shade level, lower the lever and select Bagel. That sequence is manual-specific and does not guarantee that every bagel fits the unmeasured openings.

Is the four-slice TSF03BLUS a long-slot toaster?

No. SMEG's exact U.S. sheet identifies four physical slots and four slices; it is a four-opening design, unlike the TSF02's two long openings. The published 1.4-inch slot width and 2.5 cm bread-thickness ceiling do not give a usable slot length, opening depth or maximum slice length. Measure the actual food rather than inferring a long opening from four-slice capacity.

This is a research-based assessment of the exact U.S. TSF03BLUS, not a report of hands-on use. SMEG’s U.S. page and model sheet identify a black glossy four-slot toaster with two separate control panels. That arrangement makes it fundamentally different from the four-slice TSF02BLUS, which uses two long openings and one panel. The TSF03’s clearest documented use case is a four-slice batch when two slot pairs may need different settings; the maker’s manual does not establish four independent shade controls or a long-slot layout.

Four openings, with pair-level rather than per-slot control

The exact TSF03BLUS U.S. sheet names a four-slot, four-slice configuration and EAN 8017709263447. It lists two control panels and two crumb trays. The linked TSF03 instruction manual explains that each panel operates two slots, so the left and right pairs can use different settings. This is pair-level, not per-slot, control; two breads sharing a pair share its settings.

This pair arrangement is the feature to verify if you routinely toast two kinds of bread at once. A four-slice rating alone is not enough: the TSF02 uses two extra-long slots; other four-slice designs may have four openings but uncertain panel independence. SMEG’s TSF03 manual is unusually explicit about what each panel governs, so its control zoning can be compared without guessing from the front panel or the number of knobs. The file describes a manual sliding lever and automatic pop-up when a cycle finishes; no motorized carriage is documented.

The named settings and their documented sequence

Each pair has six numbered browning positions, a Defrost button, a Bagel function, a Reheat setting and a Stop control. The manual says to set shade and lower the lever to start; select Defrost for frozen bread, which automatically increases toasting time, and use Bagel to toast one side. For Bagel, SMEG directs the user to face the side intended for toasting outward. It also says Defrost or Reheat can be combined with Bagel. Those are operating instructions, not independent performance results or a guarantee that every bagel shape will fit.

There is a practical distinction between Reheat and a dedicated extra-time control. Reheat is selected on the browning control and the manual describes it for warming or continuing a cycle; the reviewed documentation does not establish a separate A Bit More or +30 Seconds button. Nor does the documentation establish a Lift-and-Look feature that raises bread mid-cycle and resumes, automatic frozen-bread sensing without a user-selected Defrost button, shade sensing, a Sourdough preset or a Timer mode. Leave those as unknown or unsupported rather than assuming a mode from the toaster’s design language.

Opening and counter dimensions still need a real check

The U.S. sheet lists 1.4 inches for slot width and the product highlight also describes 36 mm; neither source gives usable slot length, opening depth or a maximum slice length. The linked manual sets a 2.5 cm maximum bread thickness and advises against oversized food. That gives a useful thickness boundary but no guarantee for long artisan slices, unusually shaped bagels or food in a sandwich rack. SMEG’s separate TSF02 long-slot model is the one to assess when a long opening is essential; the TSF03’s four-slice capacity does not substitute for it.

The product table lists a body width of 11.81 inches, depth of 13 inches and height of 7.75 inches, while a separate dimensions string uses 11.75 inches and notes 13 inches “with lever.” These overlapping labels are not perfectly consistent. I use the technical table figures only for a broad published-body screen, not as a confirmed orientation, clearance or installation measurement. Before buying, compare the actual unit’s depth with rear space, lever access, cord routing and open crumb-tray clearance, and follow the exact manual’s placement instructions. The photo supports the black finish and visible openings only; it cannot resolve dimensions.

Package and operating tradeoffs to check

The exact U.S. sheet lists 1800 W, 120 V and 60 Hz, but a promotional paragraph on the same product page states 2000 W. Because those maker statements conflict, confirm the appliance nameplate and the precise offer before planning a circuit; the wattage is not used as a finder requirement. The linked U.S./Canada certificate states a one-year limited warranty subject to conditions and exclusions, so check the seller, date, serial number and current terms rather than treating a listing as proof of coverage.

The sheet lists TSSR01 sandwich racks and TSBW01 bun warmer as compatible accessories, while the page labels them optional. They are not part of the toaster’s stated feature set, and the manual has separate instructions for their use. Ask what is actually included and verify the exact accessory model for the package. The U.S. product page showed an out-of-stock marker when checked on October 31, 2026; this dated snapshot is not a claim about other sellers or later stock.

Who should compare it—and what remains unsettled

The TSF03BLUS deserves a closer look if four distinct openings and different left/right pair settings are more important than a long-slot format. It documents Defrost and Bagel controls, a stated thickness ceiling, removable trays and a pair-level control map. Its limitations are just as specific: no published maximum slice length, no four-way independent settings, no documented long slots, conflicting wattage and dimension descriptions, and no hands-on browning assessment here. A limited recall status is also not a safety certification; check current notices for the exact unit.

Before ordering, confirm the U.S. suffix TSF03BLUS, black glossy finish, voltage and plug on the actual unit; compare the two control zones to the way you divide bread; measure the body and the operating space; read the TSF03 manual; and confirm accessory contents, seller, condition, returns and warranty terms. The facts support a distinct four-opening configuration, not a verdict about toast quality, current availability or suitability for every loaf.

Exact U.S. finish editions: seven standard colours, same documented layout

SMEG has separate U.S. product pages and Version US sheets for seven other TSF03 codes. Each exact page and sheet names four slices in four openings, two control panels/two independent slot sets, six shade positions, Defrost, Reheat and Bagel, a sliding lever, automatic pop-up, two crumb trays, a 1.4-inch listed slot width and the same stated body dimensions. The two English TSF03 manuals linked from these standard pages explain that each panel operates a pair of slots. They are individually identified below rather than treated as one vague colour family. The maker materials I checked show finish and code differences, not a documented change to the operating plan. That is a source comparison, not a guarantee that every unit or production run is identical.

The image files are linked from the matching maker pages and were checked against their exact suffixes. They show a product and its visible arrangement only; they cannot establish shade consistency, bread fit, safe clearance, build quality or actual package contents. The three-letter suffix matters when matching a listing, carton, appliance plate and product photo. Do not use the black TSF03BLUS image to identify a different colour or treat the visual gallery as a stock report.

All seven exact pages showed an out-of-stock marker in the October 31, 2026 capture. That dated display is not a claim about future SMEG stock, another seller or any specific marketplace offer. The matching page and model sheet are identity sources, not a promise that a particular finish can be bought today.

Published specifications conflict, and the manual editions are not worded identically

On each of the seven standard-colour pages, a promotional passage says 2000 W, while that page’s technical power row and its exact model sheet say 1800 W. I cannot resolve the disagreement from these documents, so neither number is a safe matching rule; check the actual appliance nameplate and the manual for the exact unit. The listed 120 V / 60 Hz supply is separate from that power conflict. The published table dimensions also sit beside a differently ordered string that includes “13 in with lever”; as in the black-model assessment above, use measurements only as preliminary body screening and measure the real counter and access space yourself.

The standard pages now expose two English TSF03 family-manual editions. The earlier linked booklet says bread should be no thicker than 2.5 cm; the newer linked booklet expresses its limit as one inch. Those values are close but not textually identical. For a conservative screen, do not exceed the smaller stated ceiling, and follow the instructions supplied with the exact toaster. Neither booklet publishes maximum slice length or confirms that a particular irregular loaf will fit. The pair-level control explanation is consistent across both manuals: each of two panels operates two slots.

The decorated TSF03DGUS has separate visual evidence

SMEG’s exact TSF03DGUS page and its U.S. model sheet identify a separate Decorated / Special edition for the Sicily is My Love collaboration with Dolce&Gabbana. Its sheet names four slots, four slices, two panels controlling two sets, the same listed 1.4-inch slot width, six shade levels, Reheat, Defrost, Bagel, a sliding lever, automatic pop-up, two crumb trays, 1800 W / 120 V / 60 Hz and a 10 lb net weight. The standard sheets list 8 lb net weight. These are the exact published records, not a claim that the printed weight predicts counter stability or toast results. The decorated sheet lists the TSBW01 bun warmer as a compatible accessory; check an actual package rather than assuming accessories are included.

A separate TSC.ca product record for item 632-533 explicitly names model TSF03DGUS and Euro-Line Appliances Inc.; its listing details also identify a four-compartment toaster, two control panels, two crumb trays and 1800 W. Those details align with the exact U.S. maker page and sheet. The image below is from that retailer record, not a manufacturer-hosted gallery, and it visually shows the Sicily is My Love decoration and four-opening layout. It is appearance evidence only: it does not establish performance, measurements, package contents, current availability or warranty for any offer. The exact DGUS page still links no operating manual, so instructions beyond its own listed functions remain unverified.
